Realm of Empires Intro

Realm Of Empires is a medieval-themed Massively MultiplayerMMORTG. Online Real-Time Strategy Game

You start with a small village which you grow into a mighty fortress as you struggle for dominance of the realm playing with, and against real people. It’s a game of diplomacy, strategy and war.

The game is intended to be played as little as just a few minutes per day, over many days, weeks and months as you make friends in a medieval world.

How to Play "Realm of Empires"

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with internet connection
  • Facebook account
  1. Step 1

Click one of the Realm of Empires links below, sign into Facebook, and allow the application access. Don't worry, this is a Facebook Verified App, which means that unlike a lot of the apps that show up everywhere, it's trustworthy. It has 4.6 out of 5 stars for customer reviews, and it DOESN'T publish stories on your feed without asking you nicely first.

  2. Step 2

Once you're signed into the game, chosen your username and the name of your very first village, do the tutorial. Seriously. The developers went to a lot of trouble to make this game easy to understand for newbies, so I'm not going to duplicate their efforts here.

  3. Step 3

You're protected from attack at first, so focus on the buildings in your village before troops. Ramp up your silver production by improving your mine, but make sure you keep your treasury large enough so it doesn't fill up.

  4. Step 4

Do ALL of the quests. Each will give you a nice reward so you can build up your village quickly. One of them involves getting another village to send you support. Send a message to one or more of your neighbors and offer to send them a civilian militia (CM) in exchange for one of them. Or you can ask a fellow clan mate.

  5. Step 5

Don't have a clan? I strongly suggest that you don't start your own, unless many (likely 20+) of your Facebook friends are willing to join it. Realm of Empires is one of the few interactive games on Facebook that doesn't depend on you inviting friends. See what clans your neighbors are in, and read the clan's profile to see if you want to join. Then send a message to a council member (if designated on the profile) or your neighbor asking for an invitation to their clan. Choose carefully - you can only be part of one clan!
  6. Step 6

A few days before your protected time ends, start building up your army. You'll want to focus on foot solders (CM and infantry). I prefer infantry, as they are more powerful and only use the same amount of food as CM. Still spend part of your money on village improvements. Now is a good time to build or improve your wall.

  7. Step 7

Continue to build your army and village. Don't freak out when your protected time ends. Most likely everyone around you will be building up their armies too, and being in a clan makes others wary of attacking.

  8. Step 8

If you are being attacked, there will be flashing red numbers at the top of your screen, letting you know when the attack is due to land. Build up your defenses. Let your clan mates know you're being attacked. Message the attacker to let them know you're an active player and have a clan to back you up. Ask them to call off the attack. If all else fails and you think you will lose the fight (the amount of points the attacking village has will give you some idea of this), you can use a trick to save your army. Unless you suspect the attack includes a governor (they move very slow compared to other troops), use up all your money, then send all of your army out to support another village (likely clan mate's) right before the attack lands. The attacker will get essentially nothing from his attack, and you can recall your army as soon as the attack is over. This only works if you're online when the attack lands, so at best it simply buys you a little time. Your attacker will still have all his army and can simply attack you again.

  9. Step 9

A little after your protected time ends, you will notice some of the villages around you change into abandoned villages. If the user doesn't log on for a number of days, their village is considered no longer theirs. You can attack these villages and gain silver, since their mines are still producing. Attack with spies to see how many troops they have, then attack with either infantry or light cavalry, to kill off the troops that may be left. After that, you can "farm" the village by sending regular attacks of light cavalry (since they're the fastest troop that can carry silver) to collect the silver.

  10. Step 10

Abandoned villages are marked on the map with gray shields, and so are rebel villages. You can farm these also, but they're usually larger and harder to rid of troops. Make sure you send a large enough attack army. Once the defending troops are dead, no more will be recruited.

  11. Step 11

When you've grown both your army and village enough, you can start expanding. Build a palace, and recruit governors. Each governor will cost more than the previous one, so use them wisely. It's best to have several before you start attacking a village in order to take it over, since a village needs several separate governor attacks before it becomes yours, but it's not necessary if the village is within 1-3 squares of you. And unless an abandoned village is in a strategic position, it's usually best to take over rebel villages at first. You save silver because they are already improved.

  12. Step 12

Continue building up your villages and your army. Take over more and more rebel villages, but make sure you have the troops to maintain them. You don't want to spread yourself too thin.

  13. Step 13

You may find you start encroaching on where others are attacking. If you just took over a village and it's under attack from someone else, a polite request to call off the attack is usually granted - and you might be asked to do the same. Conquer villages in another direction.

  14. Step 14

Once you're pretty well hemmed-in, start taking over the abandoned villages in between your villages. This is a good time to use the servants you've gained from leveling up (or buy more) for two important premium features - Unlimited Building Q + Improvements and Convenient Silver Transport (you can also get free trials of these features). This will allow you to transfer silver quickly to your new villages and line up many improvements. They will build up very quickly that way - much more quickly than your first!

  15. Step 15

Continue to build up your villages and armies, and keep watch on your clan forum to see if any attacks or wars are planned. Follow their policies for attacks on other clans.

  16. Step 16

When you don't have any more abandoned villages to attack nearby, start looking for ones further away. Realms grow in a circular fashion, so look outward! What quadrant you are in will determine where is outward. I'm in the +,+ quadrant, so I would look north and east (top and right). Someone in the -,- quadrant would look south and west.

  17. Step 17

Use villages as stepping stones. You might find one village 10 squares away to the right of your easternmost village, one 20 squares away, and several 30 squares away. Take over the first, build a palace, and then use governors from that village to take over the next. You can transport silver and troops to the villages more easily and not be as prone to attacks.

  18. Step 18

When you're using a village as a stepping stone, you need to build a palace quickly. Since by this point you should have so many villages that transporting silver is not a problem, don't concentrate on the silver mines. Instead, focus on upgrading headquarters. Upgrade your barracks to 5 and build your stable so you can start recruiting, but beyond that only upgrade headquarters until it's at level 20 (upgrade treasury and farm land as needed to do so). Keep transporting silver for all the upgrades. Get your stable to level 20 next, and your wall to level 5. Lastly, get the treasury to level 20 so you will have enough room for the 150,000 silver needed to build your palace. After the palace is built, recruit governors and go after the next village. Upgrade the rest of the village at your leisure.

  19. Step 19

Disputes are bound to rise, especially if more than one person tries to take over a village at the same time. Some clans have rules such as whoever lowered the percentage below 50% first gets the village; other clans don't. Be calm and dignified in your messages even if the other person isn't. Abide by your clan's rules or decision regarding the matter, or seek a different clan.

  20. Step 20

Occasionally clan leaders will send out bulk messages to the entire clan, usually with an important announcement like a declaration of war on another clan. Do NOT hit reply all or copy and paste the list of usernames into the "To" field of a message. It doesn't matter if you have something important to say or if you are being attacked. Any message sent to the whole clan by anyone other than leadership is considered spam. You can be kicked out of the clan for it or worse.
